A native of the Detroit area, Dave Stenson had numerous technical and business accomplishments over a 29-year career with General Motors concentrated in Product Development, Engineering and Program Management. Among his roles were Vehicle Line Executive, Trucks, for GM of Mexico; Chief Engineer, GM of Mexico and Vehicle Line Director for the Pontiac Solstice program.
He was later responsible globally for business operations of GM’s Computer Aided Design systems, production Bills of Material and Change. Dave became Executive Director of GM Performance Division in late 2008 and Chief Technical Officer of GM’s HUMMER Division in April 2009 on the senior leadership team for the potential brand spin-off.
In late 2010, Dave founded New Motor Advisors a Detroit-based product development consulting firm. In late 2011, he founded Inventev LLC, a Detroit TechTown-based start-up to manufacture plug-in hybrid electric trucks for fleets and enable integrated mobile power generation…an “Energy SWAT Truck.” Inventev won the Great Lakes Entrepreneur’s Quest in Michigan in Fall 2013, was named a top-10 Most Promising company in the 2013 Rice Alliance Energy & Clean Tech competition, a 2013 Cleantech Open Midwest semifinalist and in 2014 won the Transportation category of the Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition.
Dave was principal investigator for the U.S. Department of Energy ARPA-E IDEAS grant awarded to Inventev in 2016. He has also been tapped to assist the U.S. Department of Energy as a technology project merit reviewer for a number of years.
Dave has further been an organization strategy and project management consultant to a number of clients in the automotive and energy sectors. Dave received his Mechanical Engineering degree with an electrical minor from Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute) and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
