Ed Mussi - Chief Technical Officer

Ed is a senior engineering professional with more than 25 years’ experience in small and midsize companies managing rapidly developing technologies.  He has an extremely diverse background in leading innovation, product development, and operations in the fields of hybrid vehicles, advanced batteries, fuel cells, and aerospace.

Ed holds a BS in Manufacturing Engineering Technology plus graduate level course work in Engineering Management from New Jersey Institute of Technology.  He has extensive experience as a fleet customer through his family’s restaurant supply business, which owned and operated light and medium duty trucks in the New York City area.

Following the sale of the family business, Ed spent 14 years developing electro-mechanical production automation and facilities.  In 1998, Ed joined Advanced Modular Power Systems as Program Manager for the Department of Energy and NASA, Advanced Radioisotope Power System Program.  This Ford Sci-Lab startup, was formed to develop thermally regenerative  battery technologies.  In 2000, Ed became Director of Operations for Space Programs assuming profit and loss responsibility for all space related business. Adding Engineering responsibilities in 2002, Ed then had full product development scope in order to transition the company from contract R&D to product commercialization. In 2005, Ed joined Ricardo as Chief Engineer of Advance Technology where he led the Energy Systems team responsible for fuel cell and advanced battery development.  Ed was instrumental in expanding product offerings in Fuel Cells, Reformers, Wind Power, Energy Storage and Energy Management.

In 2008, Ed joined Azure Dynamics as the Vehicle Program Manager for the Balance™ Hybrid product line. At Azure, he leveraged his early field knowledge of delivery vehicles and led the development of the Ford E450-based HEV and PHEV trucks and buses.

After Azure ceased operations, Ed has consulted to startup and established firms who are developing new technologies in hybrid vehicles, fuel economy improvement and emission control.   His clients include Chrysler, Tata Technologies, Eco-Fueling, and NxtGen Emission Control.
